Definition
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a developmental condition that affects how a person communicates, interacts with others, and experiences the world. People with autism may think, learn, or react differently. The word "spectrum" means that each person with autism is unique, and symptoms can range from mild to severe.
Characteristics
Difficulty with social interactions (like talking or playing with others)
Repeating words, actions, or routines
Strong interest in specific topics or objects
Trouble understanding facial expressions or body language
Sensitivity to sound, light, or touch
Prefers routines and may become upset with changes
Accommodations & Modifications
Use visual schedules and pictures to show steps
Give clear, simple instructions
Provide quiet spaces or sensory tools
Allow extra time to complete tasks
Give choices to help them feel in control

Keep routines consistent
